Our commitment to global coverage of process automation isn’t just renaming our website ControlGlobal.com. Look at the May issue of Control when it comes out in a couple of weeks, and you will see stories about Rompetrol (the Romanian state owned oil company), Omani oil fields, Rashtriya Chemicals in India, BP’s Clair facility in the Shetland Islands, and Nestle Phillipines, as well as North American facilities.
The reason for this is that it has become obvious to us all, as I discussed with Emerson’s director of development for global field operations, Nelson Norden, on the phone a little while ago, that any automation professional, whether vendor or end-user is likely to work in several different parts of the globe at various times in a 21st century career.
What we’ve found is that the stories, the situations, the problems, and the solutions we write about are very similar around the globe…so we don’t care where the story comes from. Our articles are intended to be as valid and valuable to people in Boston as they are in Bangladesh, or Britain, or anywhere else.
It is not an accident that the readership of the electronic edition of CONTROL magazine is weighted heavily to non-North American automation professionals, and it is not an accident that non-North American visits to our website have increased dramatically.
We’ll be doing much more in the coming months to increase our commitment to our global status as the best, most respected magazine in process automation.
