Positive Displacement Flowmeters: The Big Four (Part 1)

Last month, I described an application where a solenoid valve slaps open sending a pressure wave of water toward the flowmeter, which is standing empty. The shock wave hits. The meter internals, if they aren't shattered from the blow, begin to spin. The meter moves extremely rapidly, as the metering chambers fill up with air, water, and then the air is pushed out of the meter by the velocity of the flow.
