Supply Chain Issues from Katrina

September 6, 2005 by Walt Boyes

Joel Leonard (http://www.mpactlearning.com) emailed the following to Paul Studebaker, editor of Plant Services, today:
“Just got off of the phone with Bright Plastics- Discovered 95% of all polyethylene and styrene production off line for now. That will have enormous supply chain issues on cost and availability for the plastic injection molding industry.”
Like I said earlier…we will be having trickle-down supply chain problems for months.
What do you think the results will be? My guess is that if we escape a depression, it will be a minor miracle.
