MAVERICK Acquires Laplace Technologies —
Expands APC Service Offerings and Customer Base
Columbia, IL, Feb. 22, 2007 — MAVERICK Technologies, announced today its acquisition of Laplace Technologies, provider of advanced process control (APC), engineering and instrumentation services. The acquisition further expands MAVERICK’s APC service offerings with additional engineering staff and extensive experience in implementing defined projects and consulting.
“We are very excited because the purchase of Laplace augments our APC group and is an integral part of our long-term strategy for sustained growth,” stated Paul Galeski, CEO and founder of MAVERICK. “MAVERICK is already the largest independent systems integrator in North America, and this acquisition makes us one of the largest APC groups.”
Based in Houston, Texas, Laplace specializes in process, DCS, PLC and fault-tolerant systems. MAVERICK’s acquisition of the company will supplement its expertise in the chemical, petrochemical, polymer and refining industries.
“The integration of Laplace’s staff into our group more than doubles our resource base and greatly enhances the industry-specific process knowledge we can offer our customers,” stated Dr. Jim Ford, director of APC for MAVERICK.
This latest strategic transaction follows MAVERICK’s purchase of the remaining interest in C.F. Picou Associates, a leading global provider of APC design and implementation services based in Baton Rouge, LA. MAVERICK initially gained the controlling interest in CFPA in October 2005 as part of the GE Energy Automation Services business acquisition.
“MAVERICK continues its steep growth by strengthening its service offering in APC,” stated John Wason, Vice President, ARC Advisory Group. “Judging by recent project wins, MAVERICK’s overall service capabilities are now on par with the large DCS suppliers, both in breadth of services offered and in the depth of experience in its project teams.”
