Emerson just announced that they’ve purchased Bristol Babcock for $121 Million. Bristol Babcock makes one of the best SCADA hardware systems around, yet their absolute insistence that they don’t need marketing has really damaged them in the marketplace. Emerson now acquires a huge presence in the water, wastewater and power SCADA market. This is good for end-users who get to find out how good BB’s stuff has been, and unfortunate for the independent system integrators who knew about BB and loved them.
