Inductive Automation
Build a smarter enterprise…Don Pearson, chief strategy officer from Inductive Automation introduced an ARC View that put forward the belief that Inductive Automation may be a game changer in SCADA systems. Pearson says that Ignition!, their new flagship SCADA really is growing and working. The Module Marketplace, announced last year at ARC, which works like the Apple App Store, and is similar to the methodology being designed by SMLC, the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition, with the exception that it is proprietary and owned by Inductive Automation, has grown substantially and now serves hundreds of customers.
“If we are going to actually build a smarter enterprise,” he said, “it requires a different approach to the solution. Everything in the enterprise should be connected.”
He claimed that Ignition! does this. He also claimed new acronyms: NewSCADA or eSCADA for enterprise SCADA. He went through the six pillars of how Inductive Automation goes to market, especially “unlimited licensing.”
He talked about the three software layers:
ERP
MES-MOM
SCADA
He talked about the shift in time bases, and how MES/MOM systems can bring the ERP and SCADA systems together.
He said that Inductive Automation is introducing their new Track and Trace Module as one of the answers to customer problems in the MES space.
Then Tom Hechtman, MES Product Manager, did a demo of the new module.
