Now I can talk about it. Yesterday it was announced that longtime end user and Control columnist Ian Verhappen will be joining MTL as Director of Industrial Networking Technologies. I am excited and pleased for Ian, who is a very close personal friend, because this is, in large part, recognition for all the hard work and dedication he’s put in for the past ten-plus years. Of course, we will miss Ian as a columnist in Control and Control Design, since we have this policy that vendors do not write for the magazine. Ian will still appear from time to time as a voice in columns.
I also must announce that Rich Merritt has also decided to leave Control, to take a job with Moore Industries as Marketing Communications Director. We’ll miss Rich significantly, and we’re proud of the legacy of award-winning articles and columns he’s left us.
These are typical of what happens when the economy in process automation picks up…the vendors snap up good people, wherever they have been.
I am proud and pleased for both Ian and Rich, and I will miss them as part of my staff.
