Yokogawa pre-introduces the new CENTUM VP #pauto #arcforum #manufacturing

February 10, 2014 by Walt Boyes

Taking VigilantPlant to the Next Level: The New Centum VP
Nobuaki Konishi, Vice President and head of Control Systems Business was introduced by Chet Mroz, president and CEO of Yokogawa Corporation of America.
The New CENTUM VP
Takashi Nishijima has been CEO since 2013. He will attend ARC next year for the 100th anniversary of Yokogawa.
Yokogawa’s Centum DCS was first introduced in 1975, the same year Honeywell introduced the TDC2000 and has been upgraded ever since.
We reported on the multi-protocol Wireless Adaptor for ISA100 in the INSIDER and on this blog previously, so were not surprised when Konishi mentioned it.
Another solution is MIRROR PLANT, a whole plant simulator based on real-time data to improve the stability of the process and with the ability to predict plant operating state before the plant goes critical with a great degree of accuracy
Now, the evolution of the new CEN|TUM VP! The new platform exceeds tghe capabilities of conventional production control systems: hyper-intuitive operation (4-dimensional awareness of plant situations); intelligent plant conductor (system as an expert operator) [first DCS to include these features]; total automation management (an end to engineering surprises) with a single master database; sustainable plant (maximum performance of 30 year old plants).
New features:
smart configurable I/O subsystem (Yokogawa version of intelligent marshalling)
N-IO Smart Configurable, Located in Field via high speed network, eliminating marshalling, high reliability, greenfield and brownfield applicability and smooth replacement; wired or wireless. Yokogawa calls this Wireless Anywhere.
New PID function block specifically compensates for packet loss in wireless sensor networks!!! This will release with the new Centum this autumn.
Konishi closed by reiterating that “a commitment made is a commitment kept.”
ISASecure will certify CENTUM automatically when it.
A video feed from this press conference will be available on Soundoff! later tonight.
