Last month, the installation of the catalyst recirculation flow element was discussed as it related to the operation of the reactor.  In particular, the reactor was operated for approximately 6 months using flow measurements based upon a Venturi flow element installed backwards (during a shutdown in which it was "confirmed" that the Venturi was not touched).  Part of the reason for operating for this extended time in this situation was waiting for another shutdown to occur.

A differential pressure primary flow element to measure gas flow is installed in a horizontal pipe.  How should its taps be oriented? 

A. On the top of the pipe

B. 45 degrees above the centerline of the pipe

C. On the side of the pipe on the centerline

D. On the bottom of the pipe
